From the author: The article reflects solely my point of view. I wanted to put my thoughts about my work in writing. The essence of any consulting service can be summarized in four parameters: Clarification of the goal - the question “what do you want?” Constant search for meaning - the question “why”? for each client's thesis. Retelling the client's story in your own words. In some cases, resorting to humor and reducing to the point of absurdity. Informing is the transfer of one’s own knowledge in the subject area. So, what does a consultant do? Finds out the purpose of the consultation, constantly asks the question “why?” and many other questions on the topic, retells what he heard, sometimes adding humor (if appropriate), shares his knowledge in the subject area of the client’s request. So, what does the client get? Understanding what he really wants. A new look at his situation. New knowledge about yourself, about strategies of behavior and thinking. And for many clients who seek psychological help, this is quite enough. They want to be listened to, understood and given guidance. Not everyone needs to excavate the causes, deep dive into childhood memories and analyze traumatic events. Of course, there are those for whom counseling is not enough, who need a more in-depth exploration of their own personality and restoration of contact with themselves. I, of course, give such people a recommendation to see a psychotherapist or psychoanalyst, telling them in general terms about the methods of psychotherapy that are familiar to me. For obvious reasons, I do not take psychiatric cases into account at all. This is a purely medical area of care..
