The tragic events at Crocus City Hall made millions of people empathize with the victims, and caused fear and even panic in some. Psychologists explained what can be done to take control of emotions. How to cope with emotions All of Russia is monitoring the consequences of the terrorist attack, which claimed more than a hundred civilian lives. Unfortunately, the data on the dead will continue to change upward, RIA Novosti reported the words of the Governor of the Moscow Region, Andrei Vorobyov. Now even those who did not witness this tragedy and did not lose loved ones in it are strongly involved in what is happening. People experience natural fear and uncertainty. It is advisable for everyone watching the development of the situation to view only official sources. It is quite possible that many alarming fakes will appear on the Internet. Their main goal is to provoke emotional imbalance in people. Therefore, it is important to choose only verified sources of information. It is better to consume information in doses. If a person feels that he can no longer look for the details of the tragedy, but is also unable to stop, it means that he has fallen into an emotional trap. You need to force yourself to give up this, because the main and verified data will still be repeated everywhere. Footage of the dead ended up on television and on the Internet. With each viewing, they will again and again cause anxiety, fear and panic. But it is important to remember that the tragedy has already left the status of a developing one: at the moment, the special services are neutralizing the consequences. “Now it is very important to take care of yourself and your loved ones. You need to talk to yourself about what happened in order to restore cognitive integrity and so that negative consequences do not form.” Loss mechanism After the terrible events at Crocus, the hearts of many people were filled with pain due to the loss of loved ones. For someone, the so-called “loss mechanism” is now triggered, psychologist and coach Alexander Kichaev said in a conversation with OTR. “When a person loses, his first reaction is denial. He doesn’t believe that something happened to his loved one, he thinks that maybe it’s a mistake after all. The second stage is anger. He begins to go hysterical, tries to react emotionally, destroy everyone, take revenge, and so on. And then comes the acceptance stage,” the specialist explained. During such a period, a person begins to understand that nothing can be changed and he needs to somehow learn to live with it further. All relatives and friends must understand that they now have to go through these stages. But it also happens that instead of acceptance, people become depressed and cannot exist in the new reality. “Some stop simply reacting; for them, life loses all meaning. Still, it is important to reach the stage of acceptance and move on with your life. And to make it easier to go through all the stages, you should definitely contact a specialist. Now there are many hotlines and psychologists,” advised Kichaev. He emphasized that it is very difficult to recover from grief on your own, especially if we are talking about the death of a loved one or relative. Techniques for calming anxiety All our emotions are in one way or another connected with breathing - it becomes more frequent when a person is worried. At this moment, blood circulation and other processes in the body accelerate. But sometimes people in anxiety, on the contrary, fall into a stupor, the psychologist explained. “You need to watch your breathing. If you feel that you are breathing too quickly or, conversely, that you are holding your breath all the time, you need to normalize it. Because otherwise there may be panic attacks. This is also regulated through breathing,” said Alexander Kichaev. If possible, it’s worth trying relaxation techniques to come to your senses at least a little. For example, listen to the measured beat of a metronome or the ticking of a clock. Typically, monotonous sounds bring order to the psychosomatic processes in the human body, the specialist concluded. You should take a bath or warm shower to allow the body to relax. If a person is prescribed medications, they must take them. Subscribe to/
