CONFLICT AT WORK. ABOUT BORDERS AND NOT ONLY... We dealt with a request regarding a conflict situation at work. I offered options for the client to choose from to look at it: 1) exclusively from the perspective of violation of boundaries and what to do about it; 2) from the perspective of the management organization system at the enterprise and the functional roles of all participants in the conflict, or those whom it could affect; 3) from the meaning of these events in the client’s life. This was an express session in 30 minutes, so the client immediately chose the first option, with an obvious quick scope of application of the help received. Naturally, all the options are connected. Naturally, in the process of work we met with everyone in one way or another. Naturally, I knew that this would be the case in advance, even before I offered a choice. But: The approach to the request was individual. The client felt all the time their defining role in this process, which is very important for feeling the reliability of the developed algorithm of actions. The point of receiving a portion of discoveries about the interconnections of everything and everyone, when you are already ready for it, is much more valuable than familiarizing yourself with them, like paragraphs in a textbook. So, What did the client ultimately leave the session with? With specific tools for protecting their boundaries during direct conflict contact. With an understanding of the level, weight and meaning of the actions of the colleague causing the conflict. With a vision, accordingly, of the meaning of their participation in the conflict. With awareness of the most important aspect, on which you need to concentrate when signs of an approaching new episode arise. With the ability to separate your task in a conflict from the task of your colleague and manager. With surprise at the connection between what is happening at work and your global life processes. With clarification for yourself what you want from this team and from work precisely in this organization. With an answer to the question of whether it is worth staying here, and, if so, for how long. As you can see, the list turned out to be impressive and all this wealth became available in a relatively short period of time (well, of course, “by the way” “We also “scratched”, taking into account the experience of previous sessions with this client). However, the precision of the request and the specifics of the problem situation allows us to carry out such work with a person who has just come to the specialist. Anything is possible.
