From the author: The paradox of our existence is that we always strive for loneliness, but at the same moment this loneliness oppresses us. The same applies to our life in society. We are a small part of a large mechanism called society. We find ourselves in it, realizing our ideas and needs, but at the same time, it is sometimes difficult for us to be surrounded by others, often strangers. This depends on a number of reasons, such as: reluctance to accept the values ​​of another person, selfishness, desire for loneliness, etc. If you analyze your day, then for many of you it will not be a revelation that we spend most of our lives at work, working in a team. And therefore, our position in society, our social circle, the ability to get along and co-exist in a team is very important for us and our life as a whole. One philosopher once wrote that life in society requires enormous courage from us. What is this courage? From childhood we learn to live in a group, but at the same time, from childhood we develop our own worldview, views, and ideas about life. We are all different and the ability to get along in a team, to respect the values ​​of another person without sacrificing our own is an incomprehensible luxury for many. I remember one statement from a man who remembers his life in Soviet times and reflects on his life in the 90s. He says: “now everyone wants to say something, but no one wants to listen to anyone.” If we rephrase this in our own way, then in the team there are people who want to declare and say a lot about themselves, but do not want to take anyone into account. Figuratively speaking, self-obsession. And one of the necessary conditions for successful existence in a team is the ability to respect others. Respect is one of the basic values ​​of life. What is meant by this? This is the ability to hear, and not just speak. Be interested in the values ​​of another person, and not just your own. Here it is important to understand that around us there are people with their own truth and with their own principles of life. Respect not only your own views and interests, but the interests of your colleagues and fellow students. There is an unwritten rule - put yourself in the other person's shoes. Try to understand, or better yet, ask why a person acts this way or that way. Also, along with the ability to respect another person, it is very important for us to be able to save our face. Without wearing a mask or playing a role. This will be honest to ourselves and to the people around us. In his memoirs, V. Frankl, a concentration camp prisoner, writes that once behind bars, the masks were removed and the same person had the choice to slide into the state of a pig or remain human; yesterday he was a bank director, and today he is a supervisor. Later, many studies were done on this topic, one of which was stopped for ethical reasons. The essence of the experiment was to understand hazing in the army. The study was ordered by one of the military departments. Graduate students from psychology departments were selected for the experiment. Some of them played the roles of guards, others - prisoners. The conditions were made as close as possible to real life. And the further the experiment went, the more the students got used to the role. And in the end the experiment had to be stopped. But what has become indicative is how our position in the team affects us. This example can be useful not only for managers of different levels, but also for subordinates trying on different roles and masks. The next step is not to pass off the thoughts of strangers as your own and vice versa. In general, do not lie to yourself and others. Don’t try to think that you understand a person better than he understands himself. If you cannot understand this or that action of your colleague, boss, or subordinate, then the best way out would be to honestly and directly ask him about it. To summarize, we can say that our position and ability to live in society is important to us. The ability to co-exist in a team is not an easy, and sometimes labor-intensive job for each of them.
