This article is a subjective artistic sketch, does not pretend to be the truth, only my experience is used, for others it may happen differently How psychotherapy happens from the client’s point of view 1. Beginning: It’s no longer possible to live like this, it’s hard , unbearable, empty, lonely, I can’t cope, powerlessness. 2. Search: who can help me? Who can I trust? who knows what to do? who will do this to me? who will love me? Tension, the desire to grab onto something reliable. 3. Trying on the therapist: hope, anxiety, mistrust.4. Recognition, surprise: it turns out they can understand me, it turns out I’m interesting, it turns out my feelings are important.5. Trust: I can open up, I won’t be offended, people will be attentive to me, I can live here.6. Cooperation. Awareness. Experiment - so this is what I am (and he, the other (therapist) is not afraid, does not get angry, and even he likes me, and even he treats me with respect - conclusion: I can be in the presence of another, as I am, I am valuable and is important to many people) - so this is how it happens for me, so this is how I do it (otherwise, the other one turns out to react to my behavior, and if I change my behavior, the other one reacts differently, and it happens that he does not change - conclusion: The other exists, the other lives according to its own laws and I need to take them into account). - so it turns out that this is what I really want. I can want, I can have pleasure, how can I get it in this world with its laws?7. I am interested in life, I can have fun, I can organize pleasure for myself, I am confident in myself, I am satisfied, I have an abundance of strength. What can I give to the world? from the therapist’s point of view: Metaphor-Descent into a cave. I'm nearby, I insure, I support, I'm caring and attentive, I know how to get down, I've done it more than once. I know what difficulties there are and how to overcome them as painlessly as possible. I know how hard it is, I respect and appreciate your efforts, I give space, the opportunity to learn, grow and become independent, I know how to move away in time, I am interested in seeing your findings, I help you benefit from any experience, even those that seem painful or unimportant. I work in a flow of interest, sympathy, support, and conscience. I like to be useful. I feel joy seeing your progress, growth, change, liberation.
