On holidays, it happens that we allow ourselves more than on weekdays: we eat a lot, exercise less, drink soda and alcoholic beverages. It’s sad, but this happens during long weekends, when your daily routine changes dramatically. If you usually control your weight and take regular measurements, but missed this event during the holidays, then the recommendations below will definitely be useful for you. So, you have planned to weigh yourself for the first time in this year. Perhaps even thinking about it makes you feel anxious. What number will I see when I step on the scale? This unknown is really exciting. Therefore, it is better to think in advance: what thoughts might arise if I see a figure higher than expected? Or will I see that I have gained weight? Let’s imagine that you saw plus 5 kilograms (you can imagine any value that in your opinion is close to reality). What emotions will you experience? What will you think about when you see this number? Let’s say the thought “All my previous efforts were in vain” comes to mind. You need to think, is this really so? Perhaps up to this point you did exercises at home, sometimes walked despite bad weather, went dancing or even attended classes at a fitness club. You can also notice successes in nutrition. For example, sometimes they gave up starchy or sweet foods and began to eat more vegetables and fruits. Everyone will have their own arguments. But the whole point is to evaluate your thoughts and understand: how true are they to reality? Will one week of inaction be able to erase all previous efforts? Most likely, at least partially, this idea does not correspond to reality. Because if you ate vegetables and fruits, you received vitamins, which benefited the body. And through exercise, you may have made progress in certain exercises and become more resilient. These arguments suggest that everything was not in vain. If you look at the situation without judgment and pay attention only to the facts, then, in fact, you will simply step on the scale and see the number. After you see it, nothing will change: this knowledge will not change your appearance in a second, but your behavior may change. Therefore, a lot in this case depends on how you perceive the situation and how you treat it. If you analyze the situation in advance and mentally prepare for it, this will help to identify possible negative thoughts that can provoke overeating, refusal of exercise and other activities, that would contribute to achieving your goal. __________________ If the topic resonates, sign up for a consultation with me.
