image created using Kandinsky neural network There is no such thing as perfection! This is the main phrase to remember in order to cope with impostor syndrome. In reality, life is messy and rarely goes according to plan, much less often than we would like. Therefore, the desire to always be an ideal, strict demands on oneself only add dissatisfaction with oneself and self-criticism. We remember that mistakes and failures are natural and normal consequences of actions. This is an essential element of any success! And the ability to cope with disappointment and move on is a necessary life skill. There are no people who do not worry and worry before starting a new business. Only over time, when actions become habitual, anxiety can decrease. Therefore, if you are worried before starting something, this does not mean that you will not cope. Uncertainty and doubt are built into us by evolution for survival. But in order to remember successes and positive achievements, we need to pay special attention to them! To realize your own achievements and accept them, you need to remember these events, discuss them with other people, and celebrate your successes. And it won’t be bragging - if you don’t annoyingly tell everyone you meet about it)). For this there are you, your friends and loved ones. Without such a discussion, a positive event will not be deposited in your memory and, as a result, you cannot remember anything good about yourself. Therefore, the very first and simplest thing to start with is to keep a kind of success diary or achievement diary. Where you will record for yourself everything that you have succeeded in. This could be: Study and qualifications Promotion at work, increase in salary Compliments, praise from friends, family, colleagues Your skills and abilities in any field Difficult situations that you have overcome Interviews, difficult trainings and courses Personal success in family life and in hobbies Any other successes Give this activity a week at least to start. Then read what you remember and imagine that someone else achieved all this. Honestly, without devaluation, answer yourself the question - what would you think about this person? Would you admit that he has achievements that you can be proud of? Keep this list regularly, as getting rid of impostor syndrome takes time, awareness and desire. And I propose to go this path with my help and invite you to consultations! Sincerely, psychologist Irina Zhueva. You can sign up for a consultation by phone/WhatsApp/Telegram +7 962 407 45 60
