September is not only the beginning of the school year, but also the beginning of classes in various clubs and sports sections. Everything is full of advertisements about all kinds of activities. In schools, kindergartens, and even on the streets, various leaflets are distributed with invitations to visit this or that circle or section. It’s very easy to get confused in all this diversity, especially when you want to introduce your child to some activity, but you don’t really understand which one. So where to start? I think the first thing you need to start with is to analyze what your child has abilities for, possibly talent and what he is interested in. This may be a type of activity for which there is no ability, but the child has a desire to engage. Talk to your child, ask him, perhaps he already knows which club/section he would like to go to. What does he know about this circle/section? Or maybe he doesn’t even know what options there are. Then you need to talk about the possible options, offering a choice of the most attractive one and explain why he needs it. You should not enroll your child in the section without consulting him, and you should not take him there against his will, this will not bring pleasure to you, nor your child. Ask where your child’s friends at school or around the yard study; perhaps your child will be more comfortable if such classes take place in his usual social circle. Think about how the child will attend classes, accompanied by adults or independently? It is worth thinking about the proximity of the circle to home or school. How long will the journey take? Will it be tiring for you and your child? Start collecting information about the cost, duration, and schedule of certain classes. Weigh your strengths and capabilities. After you and your child have roughly decided on the section, then go on reconnaissance. Talk to the leader, the teacher of the circle. Chat with parents of children who are already attending this club. Look at the conditions to see if everything is needed for the class. Check what you need to bring additionally (a change of clothes, shoes, etc.). If you are satisfied with everything, then be sure to go with your child to a trial lesson (in many sections/circles it is free). Talk to your child after the lesson, find out what he liked, what he didn’t, and whether he liked the coach/leader/teacher. Was it comfortable with other children? And if you liked everything, then you can sign up and attend classes. It is very important to think about how to organize your child’s time in order to do everything. You need to take into account the individual characteristics of your child, his performance, and fatigue. Classes in the section should not turn into punishment for your family. Remember that you care about the physical, mental, creative, social development of your child. Dear parents! Remember that in most cases, clubs/sections are leisure time for your child, a way of emotional release from the stress accumulated during the day, and the main thing is that the child enjoys it and wants to do it. Do not try to impose your desires to do something on your child! These are your wishes, not your child's! Good luck in your choice! Congratulations. Svetlana Pravdina
