From the author: A compliment is an effective tool in communication!!! Before you start writing about a compliment and how to give it correctly, let's look at one of the definitions, what is a compliment? A compliment is a slight exaggeration of the dignity that the interlocutor wants to see in himself. What do we often use? Flattery is used mainly. A person is praised, it is not known why, or the hackneyed phrase “how good you look” already causes “disgust” in many, especially when the person was sick or was busy with some household chores and did not get enough sleep. You should also not confuse a compliment with praise. Praise is a positive assessment of another person, but with a compliment, unlike praise, an “addition from below” occurs, the interlocutor, as it were, rises above you. From the previous it follows that the most powerful and effective compliment is a compliment against the background of an anti-compliment to yourself . I’ll give a simple example: “How good are you at conveying your point of view to your superiors, unlike me?” - in this case, you really need to find in a person the action that he does well and pay attention to it. The worst thing is if a compliment contradicts the facts - for example, if you say this to a person who does not know how to communicate with his superiors at all or who avoids him altogether, then this will be regarded as flattery or even ridicule. Once again, I direct readers to the definition of what a compliment is (see above), because this, in my opinion, is one of the most important. Another important point is that an effective compliment should be “hidden” and brief, so that a person, even this did not understand, but perceived it on a subconscious level and was subsequently favorably disposed towards you (again, do not confuse a compliment with praise). A positive perception of a compliment is facilitated by the use of facts known to both participants in the conversation, if an interpretation of these facts is given that represents the interlocutor in a favorable light.
