How often does it happen that a client runs away after the first consultation! Many psychologists are obsessed with the question why? What is wrong with me ? Let's try to speculate on this topic! I am writing my opinion and my experience when a client comes to a psychologist, he experiences a feeling of fear (what if the psychologist judges me), a feeling of shame (now the psychologist will see all my disadvantages), a feeling of danger (what if he tells his colleagues how stupid I am), a feeling of pain ( what if he doesn’t understand me, he’ll say that I’m mad about fat) a feeling of anxiety (what if he says that I need to have my head treated, sends me to a psychiatrist) although I love psychiatrists very much, their collaboration gives amazing results. a feeling of condemnation (this is how to tell a stranger how I yell at a child, beat him. She can’t understand me) and a lot of similar thoughts…. I will try to reveal to you the veil of thoughts of a psychologist (a good psychologist who attends supervision and personal therapy). I always worry before the first meeting, I love all my clients, all of them unconditionally. I do not evaluate, do not judge, I guarantee confidentiality. I even go to supervision with your permission. It is important to feel, see the client's pain, empathize with him, hear him. I explain all my questions why I ask them at the first meeting. I believe that ideal people do not exist. Before you judge, walk a person's path in his shoes. The first meeting is very important, if the client and therapist feel sympathy, the results will definitely be positive. After all, the task of a psychologist is to be a flashlight in your hands. Hear you. Feel your pain. Through many years of practice, I have learned to take on clients with a conversion rate of 98 percent. This says a lot. At the first meeting, if I collect a detailed medical history regarding a consumption request, we formulate a request for work. Next, I have 2 meetings with the child (I diagnose) to understand where the problem comes from and confirm my hypotheses. Next is feedback to parents and work with the child. Only in this format can I be as useful to you as possible 🌹for young colleagues, I will write an article on the topic of how to bring a client to work. How to avoid making mistakes at the first meeting. If the topic is relevant, write in the comments. What fears do you face? Tell us about your experience 🌹
