The breakup of a relationship with a loved one is always like a small death. It’s as if something breaks inside, and life loses its former meaning. An incredible pain is placed in the heart and it seems that it will never leave it. If we consider the process of recovery after a breakup from the psychological side, then it has several stages: 1. Non-acceptance. The person does not want to acknowledge what happened as a fact - as if it did not happen to him. During this period, phrases such as: “No, this is not true. We will still be together. He will come to his senses... He will return.” It is extremely difficult for an abandoned person to accept the new reality in his life.2. Anger. In place of despair comes anger. The person begins to blame the ex-partner for what happened. But it often happens that aggression is directed inward - towards oneself. It is very important that these negative emotions find a way out, otherwise they will have a destructive effect.3. Memories. At this stage I really want to return everything back. When aggression comes out, regret takes its place. Memories of all the good things that the couple experienced together come to mind. It is at this stage that one of the former spouses may make attempts to “return everything.” Unfortunately, most often the possibility of restoring relationships is just an illusion, so this stage can cause even more disappointment and pain if you don’t stop in time.4. Depression. Here comes the realization that nothing will return. There is still sadness, but the person gradually begins to return to reality. This is a period of tears. They don't need to be restrained. After all, tears provide emotional release.5. Acceptance of reality. This is the final stage. Here a person accepts the situation as it is. In this regard, a reassessment of values often occurs, adaptation to new living conditions occurs, and healing occurs. The duration of each stage may vary, depending on many factors. But only after completing all five stages can we consider that the recovery period is complete. Relatives and loved ones are very much needed by your side throughout the entire recovery period. There are situations when a person gets stuck at one of the stages. In this case, he needs help and often this is the help of a specialist. Otherwise, the protracted restoration, unfortunately, will turn into destruction.
