From the author: Watch the talk show “Reboot” with my participation in the discussion of the topic “Street Extreme” on Belarus-2, on the April air© Bondarovich Alena Anatolyevna Everyone knows the secret of extreme sports when actions commits, Live with risk, without extremes and be very positive! As a rule, extreme sports is an unjustified risk that a person takes in order to get a thrill. In psychology, such a tendency is considered as an indicator of dislike for one’s body, playing “jokes” with it (torturing oneself through tests, punishments). This may be a symptom of suicidal tendencies disguised as a socially unacceptable and risky hobby or activity. Risk taking is the need to experiment with unusual and complex sensations, both physically and socially. Sometimes it is a protective “shell” against stress that a person is unable to cope with using other methods due to various circumstances. Therefore, in the modern world, the propensity to take risks can be considered as a condition for personal adaptation. We all take risks, but in different ways. Let's look at an example: A 14-year-old boy with logoneurosis (stuttering) and, as a result, relative problems in communication with peers. At school there are no particularly like-minded people or friends. An internal feeling of loneliness and rejection from the environment “spurs” a teenager to self-improvement through a passion for street extreme sports. For what? There, communication is minimized, interaction with like-minded peers is accepting and approving; there is no need to defend your right to respect, since it has already been achieved through the uncritical attitude of street fighters. By taking risks and taking various risks, performing various tricks and receiving the necessary support from like-minded people, a teenager automatically gets the opportunity to “pull up” his self-esteem and physical capabilities. Is this bad? Rather, that’s not the question. It’s more about the fact that such extreme hobbies (here I’m not just taking a narrow passion for street sports) often develop into addiction. Why? After some time, a person may feel emotional hunger, poverty of emotions without those thrills that were given or are given to him by those risky tricks and situations that he has already become “hooked on” and turned into part of his life... From a psychological point of view, emotions such as “catch” of breath, drive, euphoria, “life to the fullest”, once obtained in the process of such hobbies or aspirations (including intimate ones, addiction to soft drugs, etc.) is almost impossible to repeat in conscious everyday life. And then a person becomes dependent on extreme actions, hobbies, and may experience a “thirst” for them in order to “roll back” to that time, to that ovation and admiration of others for him (cool, well done, hero, fearless, strong), to that state of high .By the way, I want to immediately note that people who professionally engage in extreme sports, work in a certain field (circus, mine, etc.) are a completely different category; they should not be put on the same level as experienced street extreme athletes. Sports and profession are one thing, but hobbies, the desire for self-affirmation and drive are a little different. There are similarities, but there are many more differences. It may work out, but it may not work out. Then there are several ways: either a person “outgrows” (everything has its time), or hangs on the border of those hobbies that it’s time to leave in the past, or becomes disillusioned with life and becomes depressed. In the modern world, there is a tendency to increase the age limits of extreme hobbies . For teenagers, such hobbies are usually the norm. At the age of 12-17 years (and a little older), it is quite natural to want to stand out, assert oneself, and experiment. But very often one gets “stuck” on unlived emotions, sensations and feelings, and then such hobbies can take place even at 30-35 years old (and sometimes older).!
