Many people know that Leo Tolstoy wrote: “All happy families are alike. Every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.” You can paraphrase and say: “All happy people are alike. Every unhappy person is unhappy in his own way.” Look at the happy people! They are, indeed, similar in that: they are satisfied with what they have and live in a state of internal harmony; they enjoy life; they are happy in relationships, they treat people with respect and love, they know how to see the good in them; they do what interests them (this is about work)); they do not blame anyone or make any claims; they are positive and self-confident, they depend little on the opinions of others; they have no fears or worries about the future; they live a fairly harmonious life, with enough time and energy for everything that is important – work, family, children, friends and relatives, self-development, hobbies, etc. have the courage to be themselves, openly express their desires and opinions. Any deviations from this state indicate that the person has some wrong attitudes (thought models), which lead to a lack of happiness in different areas of life. In my opinion, the main task of a psychologist is to help a person discover these erroneous attitudes and transform them into correct ones. This in itself assumes that correct attitudes exist, that there is a certain a truth, following which a person is guaranteed to be happy. I have been practicing as a psychologist for many years, and I can confidently say that the abundance of psychological difficulties and problems stems precisely from the fact that few people, firstly, know about this truth (or the rules of a happy life), and, secondly , follows these rules. Often these rules are completely opposite to the values that are actively imposed on us by society, and which many accept as the truth and follow it, but this takes them even further away from the desired happiness. What kind of correct life attitudes are these? On the one hand, they have long been known and formulated in all major religions and by many wise people. In the words of the Gospel this is expressed as follows: “the most important commandment is “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your strength, with all your mind. And love your neighbor as yourself.” There is also a clear instruction - “take care of your soul, the rest will follow.” And there are commandments - what not to do so as not to harm yourself. It would seem that everything is formulated very clearly. But who follows this? Conversations about God are often perceived as something separate from life, not directly related to it, even, at times, as something frightening (a cult!))). Our state does not seem to reject the idea of God, but in practice values that are directly opposite to those of the Gospel are promoted. Many people put material well-being, social status, relationships, etc. in first place in the hierarchy of values, but not God and the development of their soul. This is a global delusion, which leads to a lack of happiness. All religions are fundamentally united - that at the top of a person’s values should be love - for God, for other people, for oneself. It doesn't matter what religion you follow, all paths lead to the same goal. It doesn’t matter that there were (and are!) examples of religious people discrediting the ideas of religion through their actions, this is not a reason to reject these ideas as a whole. L.N. Tolstoy wrote: “The fact that the improvement of our soul is the only goal of our life is true because any other goal, in view of death, is meaningless.” And for me this is indisputable! Firstly, because I had my own experience when, under general anesthesia, I watched everything that was happening from the outside, and I realized that I am not a body, but a soul that only temporarily lives in this body. Secondly, because all my clients who begin to engage with their soul, that is: to look for their calling, understanding that this is the true need of the soul for self-realization, to cleanse the soul of negative emotions (fear, envy, resentment, anger, greed and etc.), )))
