There are simple ways to cope with negative emotions that you probably already know: ✅ Engage in physical activity (running, gym, walking, etc.) Not everyone likes sports. In this case, choose any physical activity that you like and enjoy. It could be dancing, or walking the dog. Even active general cleaning can also be equated to physical activity!✅ Meditation and breathing exercises These practices have been known since ancient times, and in modern times they have been studied by science and rethought. ✅ Go to the shower or bathroom ✅ Switch focus to your favorite activities (film, music, etc.) In this case, we are talking about how to “cope” with a negative emotion, get distracted, but not work through this emotion deeply. Sometimes you need to use this method too - when you need to quickly come to your senses, calm down.✅ Complain about life to a friend or another loved one.✅ Eat something delicious. You shouldn’t overuse it, but sometimes it’s possible. But eating stress is often the cause of excess weight, when a person has an automatic reaction to stress - to eat. If you have such a problem, use willpower to use other methods of working with negative emotions that I wrote above ⬆️Because simply limiting yourself doesn’t work well. We need new effective habits. And there is a more difficult way - to work with the cause of negative emotions 😤 For example, if another person offends you, set boundaries, have a serious conversation. The boss makes you angry - admit a mistake, that something has not been completed somewhere. You stepped on your foot in the subway, and this is the last straw, and in fact the reason is that you have been wanting to change something in your life for a long time, but like 5 years ago you have to get up at 7 am and do something you don’t like. This method is more difficult, because most often it involves drastic changes in life or deep work on yourself, on your shadow sides of your personality. In this case, it is best to contact a psychologist for therapy. What other ways of working with negativity do you know? Thank you for your attention!
