And the first question for experts: is it necessary? You know very well that many of our reactions are programmed. For example, pull your hand back when it hurts; push back when pushed; to sympathize with those who are similar to us; Yes, just breathe or write, walk or open the door. Some patterns were laid down in the form of instincts, others are conditioned reflexes developed over a lifetime. We are literally made up of all these patterned reactions and behaviors. Both physical and emotional. This is really necessary and good. This is a brilliant achievement of thousands of years of evolution, not created out of nowhere. There are definitely situations in which it is worth throwing away old manners and views and perceiving what is happening “like a child,” on a blank slate - without judgment or guidelines. In order to see what is happening as clearly as possible, integrate into it as adequately as possible and respond to events. However, this is not effective in all cases. For example, in case of a fire or visiting government agencies, performing social and mechanical actions. The same ingenious violin playing involves habitual movements built into the body. So what is their most important mission? Read the article to the end and you will definitely find out. These templates or, in other words, patterns can bring enormous benefits. Under one condition: when you control them, and not they control you. I will share here several consciously cultivated habits that help me a lot in life - both simply to realize dreams and in dangerous critical situations. Thinking habits: in case of troubles, do not raise the question, ask the question not “why”, but “how to get what I need” need to". For example, in illnesses or injuries. When problems arise, never look for those to blame, but only ways to resolve them. Perceptions and interpretations: if there is no obvious evidence, do not assign enemies - that is, “no one wished harm, the situation just happened that way.” For example, if you fell into the hands of an angry boss or your wallet was stolen. focusing on the fact that change brings many new opportunities - and moving your vision towards these opportunities :-) Reactions: fight if something doesn’t come right away. And evolve in the process of achievement. For example, if you do not get the desired position or you are unable to complete the business or decide to terminate the project. Do not leave hanging. Otherwise, the Zeigarnik effect can be harmful to you. Household: exercise in the morning and stretching before bed; enjoy the sun any time you see it. Relationships: trust and give the first chance to any person. And also to cherish those who justified him; do not argue with someone whose opinion is not fundamental and does not directly affect your life. Even if they are relatives. Especially if these are relatives :-) In psychotherapy, we are engaged in reprogramming old and ineffective (and sometimes dangerous and harmful patterns) into new and useful ones. For example, “do everything yourself” to “freely ask and receive help.” Or “perfectly seek excuses” for “seeing and appreciating your successes.” And, of course, we are by no means arguing with nature, not trying to break it, “freeing ourselves” from all conditioned reactions. And now - ta-dam! - the answer to the most important question: why are they all needed? Creating templates or, in other words, habits is a wise and rewarding thing. After all, if you have made something a habit, you no longer have internal resistance and “laziness” when it comes. There is no need to force yourself or waste resources on thinking. Everything is done easily, “with the left heel of the subconscious.” It is thanks to this that you free up the resources of consciousness for more complex and significant things - multifactorial creativity in behavior and use of life's opportunities, for assessing the consequences of your decisions, and, most importantly, for choosing the life path itself. And this requires time, effort, and maximum of your conscious attention. What habits have you cultivated in yourself? Which ones would you like to have??
