In ancient times, monasteries were originally places for atonement for sins. Criminals persecuted by the state always hid behind the gates of monasteries. They were also a place for people to rest after the battle. Monasteries were created for those who had fought for twenty or forty years and who did not have their own home. They created a male military community, where they lived out their lives and atone for all their sins. Naturally, this was done in churches. Gradually, what we call monasteries grew out of this.
