Midlife crisis: features of manifestation in men and women After thirty, according to statistics, almost every second inhabitant of our planet is subject to a midlife crisis. I offer my own version of an analysis of the characteristics of a crisis in men and women. A crisis is a person’s emotional state caused by a reassessment of values and life experiences, summing up and self-determination. There is a feeling of missed opportunities, and at the same time the onset of old age is already on the threshold. The crisis is accompanied by an acute desire for change. An irresistible thirst for change arises - from entertainment, spontaneous purchases and even new relationships. All this is accompanied by the appearance of anxiety, restlessness and, in some prolonged cases, depression. A contradiction appears at the junction of temporary changes, youth is gone, old age is coming and you don’t really want to let go of youth and bright emotions, and enter the path of old age, and even more so admit that half of your life has already been lived. Previously, this term “midlife crisis” was applied only to men. Allegedly, the reason was the increased fear of death that they experienced. Today, the crisis affects both men and women and covers physical, psychological, social and professional problems. Moreover, men are more concerned about professional, and women - about aging and personal relationships. This is where the peculiarities of the manifestation of the crisis in men and women appear. The crisis of men is self-determination and life values. Changes in professional activities, in some cases dramatic, changes in family life and lifestyle. This is due to doubts about the achievements of previous experience, professional or personal, and the search for oneself in something new begins. And all this is accompanied, one way or another, by health-related changes. I’ll write about myself, my eyesight has deteriorated, a sudden appearance of gray hair, aggravation in the back...)))) In connection with this, the need arises: - For alcohol - A mistress - The gym - A change of activity - To move A crisis in a man can serve as growth for personal development, but most often leads to destruction. Thus, if men look for the cause of their condition and solve problems, they will cultivate their personality, which will inevitably lead to the development of maturity. But making impulsive and spontaneous decisions, as a rule, quickly end and lead to the destruction of the individual. A woman has a crisis - physiological, professional, financial changes. Anxiety appears and motivation for certain activities, including housework, decreases. Sometimes the stress arising from a crisis is much stronger than in men, and in some cases is accompanied by sleep disturbances and health problems. Experiences associated with a period of crisis “force” people to pay attention to themselves and inwardly, and women begin to engage in soul-searching and the mother’s syndrome worsens. There are new experiences associated with children growing up and leaving home. In this regard, the need arises: - Changing forms - Lover - Moving - Rejuvenation The crisis of women, similarly to men, can serve as growth, or it can lead to destruction. Recommendations:1. Accept changes, maintain your activity and positive attitude towards life (if necessary, consult a psychologist);2. Self-care - use techniques to reduce or manage stress, take care of yourself, exercise, diet;3. Monitor your health - determine, yourself or with specialists, what is normal and what is not in your condition. If there are deviations, come up with a plan to bring them back to normal;4. Develop your intellect - train your brain activity, develop memory, concentration, there are many ways to do this on the Internet; 5. Look everywhere for new POSITIVE EMOTIONS - on the way to work, to the store, while traveling. I recently wrote a note on “travel as a resource” - there is a “place of power” technique, use it if you cannot travel.
