How to find yourself? What is my calling? Why do I feel like I’m out of place?.. To begin with, there are several myths centered around the topic of vocation: 1) It is believed that a vocation is either given from birth or not. This is not true. Some children indeed demonstrate unprecedented abilities from early childhood (like, for example, Mozart), but their peculiarity is that after birth they find themselves in an environment favorable for the development of talents (Mozart’s father was a professional violinist at court). unlucky with the environment, it’s difficult: they often get low scores at school, because... teachers do not accept their non-standard thinking (For example, A. Einstein and Beethoven). 2) One calling for life. This is also not entirely true. Often some role runs like a red thread (for example, passing on knowledge to others, or decorating something), and a person can realize this role in different professions: teacher, writer, designer, etc.3) After a certain age it becomes too late look for a calling. This is also not true. There are examples of athletes and musicians who began to study intensively after 20 years, but for these professions this is considered a very late age. Rather, this myth is a reason to abdicate responsibility for choosing your thorny path. In fact, in any profession, only the first 10,000 hours are the most difficult :) I like the principle of D. Laporte from the book “Light a Fire”. The principle goes like this: What if we first figured out how we want to feel, and then made lists of tasks? When you are clearly aware of how you want to feel, then your decisions are guided by what is really important to you. So, arrange an impromptu sweatshirt and remember the best moments of your life. What emotions dominate there? What did you really get high from? Then try to find a pattern and separate 3-5 main emotions from others. And then - match these emotions with actions that will evoke them. What's next? Take action! It is also useful to free your life from unnecessary and uninteresting activities, stop communicating with people who take away your energy and create your own environment. You can learn about the technique that will help with this here. Another powerful assistant in finding yourself is visualization. How well do you imagine the day you would like to live in? Where do you wake up, how do you have breakfast, who do you go for a walk with? What is your way to get money?.. And if you don’t succeed with this, then what will be the next one?..
