Many negative feelings arise in life, including fears. This is fine. It’s just important not to accumulate them, then exploding into affective behavior when things boil over. Or going into illness and feeling unwell. Or even depending on addiction (alcohol, drugs, overeating, etc.). And it is important to be able to work with your feelings, minimizing fears and negativity. And what is very important is to change your mood to a positive one. In this article I will present two simple exercises of Emotional-Imaginative Therapy (that is, therapy based on the relationship of emotions and images). The first is to work with fear or other negative feelings. The second resource is for improving your emotional state. Exercise 1. I will describe working with a feeling of fear, but you can use the same analogy to work through any negative, unpleasant feeling or emotion. Remember your state of fear, concentrate on it, feel it (without fanaticism). Note where in the body it is felt more. Our body is a single system, and the body and psyche are inextricably linked. Any emotion or feeling is a process occurring in our body. Therefore, if we empathize, we will feel the emotion in the body. The feeling of fear somewhere in the body is more and more strongly localized and felt (often in the abdomen or solar plexus, but not necessarily). Next, try to consider the image that arises. Some people may have it with sound. Everything is quite individual. Let's see what image appears when you fixate on the feeling of fear. What color, shape, size, consistency, weight, etc. Now place the image of fear in front of you, it may change, or it may not. And just stare at him. Without evaluations and condemnations, without unnecessary thoughts. Simply fix your inner attention on the image until the image of your fear begins to fade, fade, become cloudy, etc. Imagine how it decreases in size until it disappears completely. If you hear a sound at the same time, it also becomes quieter and eventually disappears. If everything works out, then you will have some pleasant sensations in your body. It may be warmth, goosebumps, the sensation of a gentle breeze, or a feeling of relief. This is a signal from the body that you are doing everything correctly. And we immediately move on to the second exercise. Since “a holy place is never empty,” then in addition to the fact that we have neutralized fear, it is important to create positive emotions and feelings instead. Exercise 2. Imagine a magical Circle of Happiness somewhere in the space next to you. Imagine how from somewhere above (for example, from outer space) a stream of light (of any color you like, which appears by itself) pours into this Circle and fills the space of this Circle with a feeling of happiness. And if you enter this Circle, then instantly this light penetrates you and fills you with a state of happiness. And you can stay in this Circle of Happiness for as long as you want. And you can go there whenever you want. Your task is to imbue yourself with a state of happiness. Allow light to fill your body completely and to the maximum. Often after such exercises you want to sleep. If you feel this desire, then lie down and sleep. Firstly, the subconscious launched the process in the right direction. Secondly, during these exercises you physically relax, and if you were previously in a state of tension (and we get used to it and often don’t even notice it), then when the body relaxes and relieves tension, it needs to recover, so it intensively restores its energy costs through dream. Share in the comments what worked for you (or maybe didn’t work out)? In what way did you see your negative feeling? Where in the body was your feeling located? What color was the light in your Circle of Happiness? And tell everyone that you deem necessary. And in the next article I will describe an NLP exercise for working with phobias and fears.
