“Of all the arts, cinema is the most important for us.” The well-known leader of the proletariat said this phrase in January 1925. Every person living on the planet has experienced the healing power of art. An amazing variety of ways allows you to find your direction and choose an activity to your liking. After all, art therapy is not only about drawing or sculpting. The most popular direction, in my opinion, is cinema. In the modern world, this is a very accessible, inexpensive and comfortable (not only in the cinema, but also at home) way of obtaining emotional and intellectual (or not so much) release. Why is the visual image so attractive? It's all in the brain. A person experiences the world with the help of his senses: hearing, vision, taste, touch, smell. In order to experience different feelings, it is not at all necessary to be somewhere and do something. You can watch or imagine. This is quite enough for a great deception, cortisol and adrenaline trigger an emotional swing, but unlike real life, in an hour and a half the denouement in the plot will come and you will receive your portion of dopamine and endorphins. When watching, it is important which hero you associate yourself with, how this hero behaves and what feelings he experiences. While watching, you can live a whole life and experience feelings that are unavailable in ordinary life. My other, little life was lived during the winter holidays with the heroes of the series “The Killing”, USA, Canada, 2011. The plot is very interestingly twisted. The first two seasons, and this 26 episodes dedicated to one story. It would seem that it is possible to procrastinate for so long??? But no one procrastinated. One episode - one day of investigation. Very dynamic and becoming more complex every minute. The usual everyday life of detectives and the feeling that by the end of the first episode the killer will be found. But with each episode new characters are added and everything only becomes more complicated. There are a lot of psychologically interesting moments: emotions, experiences, torment, unexpected turns and, my favorite, an absolutely unpredictable ending! A special impression about the main characters themselves. A little strange, with personal secrets, weaknesses and incredible humanity and sensitivity. The selection of actors for these roles is amazing. I am still impressed. A lot of existential questions have been raised and I would like to find at least some answer to them. Most are related to the profession, psychology and psychotherapy. The feeling of how fragile, unpredictable and dark the microcosm of everyone’s psyche is. The 26 episodes with which my year began have already made it. And they undoubtedly changed me.
