Many who are interested in their career and career growth strive to bring their professional skills to a level that would allow them to rightfully be called a “high-class professional.” However, according to research conducted in different years by N.V. Kuzmina, only approximately 5% of those engaged in one type of professional activity become high-class professionals. Then a logical question arises: What happens to them that prevents them from achieving success? The reason for this may be many factors, but one of them especially affects all people without exception. And this is burnout! More than thirty-five years ago, an interesting metaphor, like “burnt out at work,” used among themselves, was invented by lawyers who had difficulties in fulfilling their work duties. However, in the scientific literature, the first to raise this question was the psychiatrist H. Froudenberger, who also noticed signs in himself that prevented him from working as before. Burnout is a condition in which a person loses interest in work, cannot concentrate on his work, has internal emptiness and reluctance to communicate with colleagues and clients, devalues ​​and does not see his achievements. Medical workers, sales agents, salespeople, teachers are susceptible to this condition and teachers, lawyers, managers, recruiters and all those who work in a field where there is a lot of contact with people. The main symptoms of burnout syndrome, which can be assumed to be present, are: – inability to concentrate; – frequent headaches in the afternoon ;– rapid fatigue (if normal fatigue accumulates towards the evening, then in this state it is permanent);– sleep disturbance (a person has difficulty falling asleep, and in the morning he feels exhausted and not at all rested);– dissatisfaction with himself;– general psychological discomfort. In order to always stay in good shape and maintain efficiency, you need to develop some rules for yourself that will help avoid burnout. Namely: rationally distribute time between work and rest - do not take “work home”; if working conditions require a “sedentary lifestyle”, then it is better to choose an active vacation, such as ice skating, swimming, paintball, dancing, water aerobics, etc.; have acquaintances and friends who work in other fields of activity, so that it is possible to receive various information without getting “stuck” in communication on work problems; have interests and hobbies that are not related to professional activities, for example, if you like to read, then books are not in your specialty, but “for the soul”; have long-term professional goals. When you know exactly what you want and If you imagine your career in five, seven, ten years, it gives you the desire to get out of bed every day and do something that will bring new successes and bring you closer to achieving your goal. In addition, it helps to win the fight against insidious burnout, since you always find interest in work and show initiative rather than apathy! Be successful, and as Abraham Maslow said: “A person has a duty to be what he can be.”»!
