I would like to share with you my ideas about how you can become a successful and useful practicing psychologist for other people. The first thing you need is to obtain a higher education. Without it, your activity will not be considered legal (What do you think?). If you don’t want to deal with just science, but also want to advise people, then ask whether practical areas of psychology are covered (are there corresponding disciplines) in the educational institution where you decide to enroll. Collect feedback about the educational institution, ask about the quality of teaching. If you think that after graduating from university you will be completely ready to work with people, then I must disappoint you. Unfortunately, the institute gives only general ideas about the scientific and practical areas of activity of a psychologist. To truly become a qualified counselor or therapist, you will need to complete a specialized training program for practicing psychologists. It seems to me that such a program cannot be short-term. Typically, training a specialist takes more than one year. Short-term courses are more suitable for obtaining some basic skills, for example, the ability to listen to others, and ideas about a particular practical direction. What do these years of preparation take and what are they filled with? If you think that you will sit at a desk and listen to lectures, then you are mistaken. Everything is much more interesting! But I will tell you about this in the next part. Feedback and criticism welcome!
