From the author: Luck chooses those who are ready for it. Louis Pasteur Often many people ask the question: “Why, some people are lucky in life, luck smiles on them, success accompanies them, while others are not spoiled at all fate. Psychologist Richard Wiseman, it seems to him, found the answer A few years ago, he decided to conduct an experiment in order to find out why some people are so lucky to be in the right place at the right time, while others are chronic losers. To do this, he. placed an advertisement in the central newspaper asking those who consider themselves absolutely lucky and those who are sure that they are completely unlucky to respond. Hundreds of men and women agreed to participate in the experiment and over the course of many years, Richard Wiseman communicated with them and observed the progress. their lives. As a result, he came to the conclusion that unlucky people do not understand at all why they are so unlucky and that this is not something that affects them from the outside, but is determined by their way of thinking and behavior. When realizing opportunities, the lucky ones are always. The unlucky ones almost never catch their chance. Richard Wiseman conducted a simple experiment to see if this had anything to do with the ability to spot an opportunity at the right time. He gave both of them a copy of the same newspaper and simply asked them to count how many photographs they saw in it, but before that, he placed a large text in which it was written: “Tell the experimenter that you see this and get 250 pounds sterling.” (almost 400 US dollars)." The text was quite large and occupied a considerable area of one page. The announcement simply caught the eye. The result was a logical “picture”: people who considered themselves unlucky missed this text, and the lucky ones did the opposite. The thing is that losers are more stressed than successful people and this anxiety prevents them from seeing what they do not expect. They were focused only on photographs. Thus, they missed the opportunity for something more important and concrete. If, for example, a person who considers himself unlucky goes to some party with the goal of finding a partner, his thoughts work only in one direction, and he misses the opportunity to have good friends. While looking at job advertisements in the newspaper, they don't pay attention to the many others that might be useful to them. Lucky people are more relaxed, open, positive and confident. They see what they see, and not just what they are looking for. During the study, the psychologist became clear that successful people simply generate luck, thanks to four principles. They know how to notice and create lucky chances; make the right decisions by listening to their intuition; They form positive expectations and also have an easy-going attitude towards the world around them, and this helps them transform failure into luck. Then, Richard Wiseman decided to find out if these principles could be used to artificially create luck. He asked the subjects to perform exercises for a month that would help them think and behave as if they were absolute lucky ones. The exercises developed in them the ability to notice unexpected chances, be sure to listen to the voice of their intuition, want to be lucky, wait for luck and not be upset about bad luck. After a month, they all described what was happening to them: 80% of them felt happier, more satisfied with life and - perhaps most importantly - more successful. That is, the usually lucky ones became even luckier, and the unlucky ones became just lucky. Richard Wiseman, caught the elusive “luck factor”. He gives four main pieces of advice to those who want to be on this wave: Listen to what your inner voice tells you: it is rarely wrong; Open up to new opportunities, don’t let the routine suck you in; Take a few minutes every day to remember what was good; Imagine yourself lucky before any important meeting or conversation. Very often, luck is what you tell yourself in advance. I would like to add - "loosen up!
