From the author: Life is unpredictable at its very core, which is why it is hardly possible to predict in advance where pleasure will find you. But pleasure coaching can help you plan for it :) Pleasure and knowledge come from very different areas of the personality. There are lucky people for whom knowledge is harmonious with pleasure. There are those who have a long, long way to get from one to the other. How does it work for you? Sometimes you go on vacation, for example, to the sea, to have a good swim, and end up by the pool, because you are incredibly pleased to communicate with a company of unexpectedly found friends - or on an excursion, because you met an amazing guide. Or you go to Italy to visit museums - and find yourself on the terrace, in the process of tasting wine and some unpredictably wonderful pasta - all because the waiter in this osteria knows what to offer you, much better than you know. Life is unpredictable in at its very core, which is why it is hardly possible to predict in advance where pleasure will overtake you. But pleasure coaching can help you plan for it :) Csikszentmihalyi talks about flow, the state that occurs when a person forgets himself in action, meaningful work, in the activity that best fits with his life attitude, root values. And this can be anything, from writing poetry to designing houses, from tasting wines to playing a computer game - if it is really important to you. And why is this important, by the way? What is it about this that you can’t imagine your life without? And if this is not the case, perhaps it is just a habit or a replacement for something more? What even more meaningful things could you be doing right now? And would it bring you more pleasure? What could enhance the pleasure of what you are already doing? Meaning is not sought, it is invested. There are well-known experiments by Timothy Gallwey, who radically changed the awareness of call center workers with a simple question: what is the state of the person you are talking to now? Is he angry, upset, tired, happy, neutral? Nothing else was required, this one simple consideration increased both awareness and pleasure from work - significantly! What could you do differently today? Stretch before bed, swim in the morning, ask a colleague about his business, or, on the contrary, tell him about the new book by Gilles Deleuze that amazed you? If you know what is truly important, pleasure lies in the most unexpected places. And, of course, find it and increase it is much easier, faster and simpler - with a personal life balance coach. With pleasure, Yours, Alexandra, Life Balance Coach
