From the author: What does a lie mean to you? Greetings, wise parents! What does a lie mean to you? Is it true that you can tell a white lie? How often do you use it in your life? I offer a typical situation for your consideration. Similar moments have probably happened in your life. Mom at home regretfully says that tomorrow she has to celebrate her birthday at work, and she doesn’t want to do that at all. Because you need to spend a lot of money. But you still have to celebrate. Therefore, it is advisable to buy cheaper products tomorrow. Then she goes to work and kindly invites her employees to the table. A child comes to his mother’s work to help set the table, and begins to say out loud what he heard at home yesterday. The child, unlike adults, cannot distinguish in whose presence it is or is not appropriate to say certain things. And he takes what his parents say at face value. Adults constantly monitor where and what can be said. Moreover, due to various circumstances, some things can be said at home, and others outside the home. Children, almost until adolescence, are not able to distinguish where, when, and what can be said. This skill appears gradually, with age, and depends on the experience, not of the parents, but of their own. In such situations, children can let their parents down, and this will not be their fault. The responsibility for the ambiguity of their behavior lies with the parents, and not with the child, for whom parents are the standard of behavior. Sincerely, psychologist Irina Revutskaya.
