On the eve of the weekend, let's raise the topic of relaxation. This magical time is the weekend... A little disorder in an orderly system of responsibilities. In the process of working with my clients, we often come to the conclusion that many They don’t know how to rest. They cannot sit still because they immediately begin to worry that they are missing something and are wasting their time. I can’t rest People often contact me who complain that they can’t rest and sit still, because it makes them feel tired. They have unpleasant feelings that they are missing out on something, wasting time and other forms of discomfort. Over time, this can lead to “professional” neurosis (neurosis arising from work). Usually living in conditions of constant time pressure, irregular working hours, inadequate sleep and diet, high responsibility, a person predisposed to neurosis resists for some time, but inside he is already “accumulating.” One day a traumatic event occurs, and defense mechanisms are already triggered. The trigger can be anything: dismissal, conflict with management, deadlines for a large project, an event in our personal life. So what prevents us from learning to relax and manage time rationally? After all, if you develop neurosis, it will add a lot of problems at work and in everyday life. As a rule, the reasons are the same for everyone: Instructions received from parents and loved ones that something needs to be done, otherwise you are bad and you are worthless will love (Doing nothing - idleness is bad, no one needs lazy people, if you don’t do anything - you won’t achieve anything, etc.) Factors that formed the need for hoarding or “achievement” (the need to constantly prove to someone your superiority, that you are worthy of love and to be accepted, better than others, hoarding associated with deprivation in childhood). There is no skill to rest; during rest, such people, on the contrary, accumulate tension or create a “movement” around themselves: cleaning, control of relatives, small tasks that give give them the illusion of moving forward. After all, they forbid themselves to be inactive and stand still. If we talk about the secondary benefits of symptoms, then sometimes getting sick is the only way to put them to bed and make them rest. How to change the situation? Analyze on your own or with a therapist the attitudes and beliefs that constantly make you move. Answer the questions and find the real reason: What will happen if you start to rest? Will it mean that you are somehow different? Which? Will you be loved less? Will something happen? Get the skill of rest, and this is exactly the skill that needs to be learned. The time when you do nothing. Stop getting rid of anxiety and discomfort through meaningless things that you invented for yourself. Better find the cause of this anxiety.
