Cognitive behavioral therapy provides excellent tools for coping with depression, anxiety, shame, fear, anger and other painful emotions and experiences that “get stuck” inside us and prevent us from enjoying life. At the preliminary stage of work, I try to achieve maximum initial motivation and the client’s commitment to effective interaction, which increases his further involvement in therapy. In the “psychologist-client” alliance, it is important for me to create a trusting, therapeutic environment in which the interaction takes place, establish an emotionally charged connection and consistently carry out a set of procedures that will be able to lead the client to affirmation of something positive, useful or adaptive. Using CBT methods, I help the client: ✔️ understand and identify the ways in which you can cope with mental suffering, that is, your individual defense mechanisms that cause long-term emotional distress pain;✔️ independently launch processes of change in order to weaken painful emotions and experience them less often;✔️ cope with the consequences of negative thinking;✔️ make decisions based on your values, and not under the influence of emotions;✔️ stop hiding from life and finally start living. The gradual introduction of exposure into the client's life makes fears easier to live with and is also the most effective method of treating anxiety. Confronting frightening situations is one of the most effective approaches in the treatment of anxiety and related disorders. It is worth noting that in my work I pay great attention not only to “problem areas”, but also to supporting factors, since they are often the objects of effective treatment Using a general means-end problem-solving strategy, I assess whether the lack of desired changes in the client's life is due to a capacity deficit (i.e., the person does not know how to perform the required behavior), and then we train the skills. Or the client has the skills but is prevented from using emotions, conditioning, or cognitive processes, in which case we use confrontation procedures and techniques, situational influence, and cognitive modification to remove barriers to the desired behavior.
