This true joke shows the insignificant interest of children in visiting museums. But how can you help your child become interested in art? In psychology there is a concept of leading activity - this is what a person devotes almost all his strength to, is his main interest, and takes up almost all his time. Leading activities change in a person’s life. For preschoolers and elementary school students, this is a game. In play, the child learns to reproduce the basic meanings of human activity and assimilates those forms of social relations that will be realized later. It is impossible to change this; by depriving a child of play, we not only deprive him of childhood, but also of youth, maturity, old age and his whole life. Taking a child away from play and bringing him to a museum is the same as taking an adult away from work and forcing him to play hide and seek . Maybe, if it doesn’t last long, the adult will get carried away with this activity. But after a short time, he will remember the work not done, his boss, his family, and the approaching deadline for paying off the mortgage loan. What kind of hide and seek is there! He will quit the game with irritation and return to his duties, because the leading activity of an adult is connected with his personal and family life, self-realization, and self-actualization. Therefore, children in museums in which exhibitions are built taking into account the leading activity of adults are bored. Moreover, it seems to them that they are wasting time there, they have been torn away from something very important, but they do this because of the great love that children feel for their parents. There are many games, including board games, that allow the child to touch to art and get to know it. By playing with them, the child becomes fascinated by the world of art and is no longer so painfully bored in the museum. It is also important to note that when coming into contact with great art, one must teach the child to feel it. Unfortunately, very often, familiarity with it is limited to the assimilation of some data that will be useful for writing a school essay: the author, in what year the work was created, the plot of the work. But art carries a huge emotional charge, which helps to harmonize the soul and psyche of a child. It is important to teach a child to feel the feelings of the characters, live their lives, be happy and even sad with them.
