I recently listened to a podcast about how recent events affect the internal state of various groups of people. How they cope with shocks, changes, uncertainty. I was very interested in the topic of fear and anxiety and today I want to talk about it. Understand the psychological mechanism of fear and how to help yourself and your loved ones as much as possible. Fear is born in a situation of uncertainty, a large number of frightening and shocking events, and changes in the usual way of life. In such circumstances, a person feels very unprotected, vulnerable, and this is the most fertile ground for a whole host of anxieties. It is important to understand that it is completely normal to be afraid - fear, aggression, tears, freezing is a completely normal adaptive reaction of the adaptation and often goes hand in hand with changes. Adapting to something new takes time and internal resources, and the emotion of fear signals us about the danger of the situation and the need to make decisions and develop new types of behavior to avoid the threat. Fear works like a magnifying glass. Instead of being afraid of a specific event, the psyche begins to fear everything at once. Upon closer examination, it becomes clear that most of our fears are unrealistic and can never happen to us, but fear is not affected by rational arguments. In the language of psychology, this is called generalization of fears. Example: a child is bitten by a wasp - he is afraid of the wasp, then of all insects, then he is simply frightened by dark dots that look very vaguely like insects. The psyche reads the general features of a potentially dangerous object without delving into the details and sounds the alarm in advance, having previously had an unpleasant experience with a similar object. To work with fear, I would like to share a few simple recommendations and art therapy techniques that I often use myself. 1. Be sure to find an opportunity to share. It is important to find your fear, name it, put it into words with someone who is ready to listen - it will immediately become easier. 2. Draw the fear. Any color spot, image, hieroglyph. The drawing contains the experience, it is important to take the fear out of yourself, from the emotional sphere and put it into a material object. 3. Another way is to write what exactly I am afraid of, and then burn the piece of paper. Or tear it into small pieces and flush it down the toilet.
