Since the beginning of December, every now and then I come across posts and articles by different authors on the topic of summing up the results of the year. I also accidentally came across a post from two years ago, where I wrote down goals for myself until December of this year. Most of the goals were achieved, although I didn’t even re-read this entry, but of course, I kept a lot in my head. And so, I was wondering, do you sum up the results of the year and set goals for the next year? In the article about procrastination, I wrote about how I work with goals and tasks. A three to five month planning interval was more suitable for me, rather than a year, when we are talking about some relatively small goals and objectives. But for larger goals, an interval of two years is just right. These are goals related to my professional training as a Gestalt therapist and the development of private practice, personal life or material wealth. At one time, I used different ways of planning and summing up the year. I like to periodically evaluate different areas of my life using a balance wheel. I rate my different areas of life from 0 to 10 so I can see which areas are slipping. Then I think about how I would like each area to be developed and what I can do for this. I write down specific actions, most often these are actions that need to be performed on a regular basis. And also, if I see that there is no desire, for example, to engage in one of the areas, I try to understand this resistance and generally re-evaluate, maybe this is really irrelevant to me now and there is no value in this area at this stage of life, then I accept the situation as it is. When planning goals for two years in advance, I use SMART technology - i.e. The goal must be specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time-bound. And I also check it for environmental friendliness so that it does not harm either me or other people. And I am well aware that external circumstances may occur that will not allow me to achieve my goals. I try to approach goal setting with a certain humility, but at the same time with intention and willingness to take action to achieve them. Very interesting, what methods of planning and goal setting do you use? Share in the comments, maybe I’ll learn something new and try it. I invite you to short-term and long-term work.
