The hippocampus (a paired structure in the temporal regions) is the host of short-term memory, responsible for the formation of memories (translation of information into long-term memory) and learning. Research shows that overusing a gadget negatively affects its performance, and therefore our memory. The islet helps us understand and process our emotions. Overstimulation leads to decreased sensitivity, which disrupts social interaction, making it more difficult for us to empathize, connect on an emotional level, and form deep connections with others. The anterior cingulate cortex plays a role in regulating emotions and detecting errors. Uncontrolled use of the phone increases anxiety and reduces the ability to see mistakes. In addition to the above failures, addiction-like behavior is formed, empathy suffers, and anxiety increases. Constant stimulation and lack of time to rest contribute to feelings of anxiety and stress. But do not despair! Not everything is so gloomy. Awareness is the first step in solving the problem. Limiting screen time, digital detoxing, and switching to other practical activities can help restore the right balance. Be mindful of your phone use and give your brain a well-deserved rest.
