From the author: Yesterday, on the first day of spring, I found myself near a Buddhist temple (Datsan) in St. Petersburg and remembered how my psychological practice began. Yesterday, on the first day of spring, I found myself near a Buddhist temple (Datsan) in St. Petersburg. And I remembered my first experience as a psychologist and coach, back in 2002. Then, inspired by the psychosynthesis courses I had just completed, I decided to conduct the first training in my life. Without thinking twice, I gathered a group of students from different courses at my institute, enlisted the support of a scientific advisor and prepared a 3-week training program. It was a wonderful experience that helped me decide what I wanted to do next professionally, and as it turned out, Some of the exercises in that training were useful for the participants. A few words about the practices of psychosynthesis themselves. This direction lies at the intersection of Jung's analytical psychology and transpersonal psychology. Fritz Perls, the founder of Gestalt therapy, and many other interesting personalities drew their inspiration from psychosynthesis. One of the postulates of psychosynthesis is that we have internal resources, an internal source of wisdom. And one of the goals of practice is to open this source in yourself. Below is one exercise that will help with this. It’s called “Meeting with the Sage.” So, first of all, formulate a question to which you want to find the answer. It can be anything. For example, I once asked something like “where should I go next in life and what should I strive for?” But this could also be a less global question, for example, about personal relationships or anything else. Then, sit back and close your eyes. Pay attention to your body, how you sit. On your feet, your legs, your whole body. Pay attention to your breathing. You don’t need to do anything special, just pay your attention to your body and breathing, spend 2-3 minutes on this. Now, imagine that you are starting a walk, and you come to the edge of the forest, you see a path and begin your journey along it into the depths of the forest. The path goes between the trees, the weather is sunny. After some time, you come out into a large clearing, in the center of which stands a sun-drenched temple. You see a massive door and open it. You enter the temple, a ray of sunlight falls through the window in the roof of the temple, illuminating the center of the temple. There is a figure standing in the center. You approach her and see a sage looking at you with love. You can enter into a conversation with the Sage. You can ask questions that concern you and listen to what they answer. When you feel that the conversation is over, ask the Sage to envelop you with his light, love and warmth. Stay in this state for a while. Thank the Sage and say goodbye to him. Then go to the exit, and go along the forest path to the edge where you started at the beginning. After that, open your eyes. You can write down some thoughts that seem important to you after this practice on paper, draw something, or just be in silence.
