And I have prepared one very valuable gift for you (look for it at the end of the interview). The success story of Yana Kataeva’s mother of the same age. Olga: In the tradition of the “Mom’s Career” project, I’ll start with questions about your professional path. Tell us about your path to your favorite business. Yana: Oh, this is a whole story full of sharp turns. After school I chose between a psychologist and a translator. I chose a translator because it is understandable, prestigious and potentially financially rewarding. And languages were easy. A psychologist at that time was completely incomprehensible, not very prestigious and mostly not financially. She graduated from Moscow Linguistic University. Maurice Thores, Chinese translator. What were my bookshelves filled with? In addition to dictionaries (where would we be without them) - dozens of books on popular psychology. Then I began working in large trading companies producing goods in China. I grew rapidly - from a secretary-assistant to a production manager in 3 years. She lived in China most of the time. She developed and launched into production one of the currently popular brands of tights. Even the name is still what I came up with. It's nice to see such a familiar title on a supermarket shelf)) What kind of books did I take with me on business trips? That's right, in psychology. Then it was professional literature. And then, in the midst of production, I got married! My husband is from Krasnoyarsk. I went to a wedding and an express honeymoon in Krasnoyarsk, and after 2 weeks I was back in China, supervising shipments... I moved to Krasnoyarsk with my husband almost a year later. He said: “That’s it, good. Move.” In Krasnoyarsk there were no vacancies for me in Chinese and with such interesting content and remuneration. And I didn’t want anything less. And frequent business trips - an integral part of working in big business with China - were no longer suitable for me. It was not easy to give up the only thing I knew how to do professionally at that time. But I believe that when you let go of something, you make room in life for something no less interesting. And unexpectedly for myself, with the light hand of my former boss, I went... into trading. I began to develop a chain of branded stores in Krasnoyarsk (one of the largest federal chains today) as a hired director and franchisee. That is, she became a business owner. Honestly, I never intended to go there and didn’t expect it from myself. But I felt quite comfortable in this role. 2 years passed, and the next turn was that my husband was invited to work in Moscow. There I decided to study what I had been most interested in since school, what I had been reading books about all these years - psychology. I went to the amazing Institute of Psychology and Psychoanalysis. I found like-minded people there and flew to study as if it were a holiday. But I didn’t finish – our long-awaited son was born.
