It's scary to lose what we value or even touch what is fragile. It's scary to do something that will disrupt the usual course of things. Even when it is clear to your head that this will be correct and useful. Fear is an emotion that signals important and significant phenomena for us. The greater the fear, the more important the phenomenon or event. Fear is just a signal, like the side lights of a car in front. Another question: what to do with information about this signal? And this is a choice. Fear and cowardice are often confused. Being afraid does not mean being a coward. Fear, as I wrote earlier, is an emotion, and cowardice is a choice and behavior. Behavior can be changed, especially when it does not allow you to live the life you want to live. Sometimes a man may feel that he cannot cope with this, that he will make a mistake and he will be ashamed of it. Is it better to chicken out and run away than to face fear? Is it better to live as you lived, habitually and monotonously? Sometimes we answer “yes” contrary to our desires. If there were no benefits in cowardly behavior, then there would be no reason to be cowardly. This means cowardice protects something else important. Without understanding this something important, it is difficult to move on and not retreat. What can be opposed to fear? The opposite of the emotion of fear is often courage, interest and confidence. But all this is also a choice and behavior, not an emotion. These qualities can be acquired if you understand and accept your fears. Find new meanings to overcome and find strength to acquire and experience new experiences. For example, learn to live and act without giving control over yourself to fear. Such a thought may sound like this: “I want to control” or “to have a choice consisting of more than 1 point” or “to manage my life independently.” You can acquire and cultivate the skill of overcoming fear if you acknowledge your fears and decide to change something. Where it is scary and unknown, there is a zone of proximal development, growth above oneself.
