Have you finally realized that you have been through thick and thin and are ready to go to a psychologist/psychotherapist, but don’t know how and where to look? And most importantly, how do you understand that this is a good specialist? Then this post is for you. If there is at least one psychologist in your environment, contact him for help to make inquiries and get recommendations. But if a psychologist you know offers you his services, then never agree, because he is included in your life and is subjective, and you may not be completely open with him, because the situation may be connected with him or you will worry that your words will somehow affect your friendship outside the office. Below are the criteria by which you can evaluate a psychologist at the entrance: 1. Higher education in Psychology. Where and how did the psychologist study? Practical professional training (which includes training in one or more psychotherapeutic techniques)3. Supervision (observations from experienced colleagues);4. Psychohygiene (personal psychotherapy). There are a lot of people who position themselves as psychologists/psychotherapists, but in fact do not even have a higher psychological education. Do not listen to those who call themselves a psychoanalyst, if this person from the entire above list has only completed a course of psychoanalysis. Look at the photo of the selected psychologist, you should like this person, if he gives you negative feelings, then look further. Now you have selected several specialists corresponding to the above parameters, then you need to look at their texts and articles. And exclude those who mention “cosmic energy”, “retrograde Mercury”, “looking at the aura”, “let the wife fear her husband”, consider America the cause of all troubles. If everything coincides, feel free to write or call! Don’t worry if they don’t answer you right away, don’t be afraid to remind yourself, because a good psychologist works very hard, and he will definitely answer you when he’s free. The next post is about the fear of the first psychotherapy session, what to say, how to behave. Have a nice day everyone and mental health!#psychotherapy#psychologist#how to find a psychologist#psychology#relationships#first psychotherapy
