Canis therapy is a type of psychological rehabilitation for children and adults with various disorders and characteristics of mental and physical health with the help of specially selected and trained dogs under the supervision of qualified specialists. Canis therapy is recommended for people who have suffered severe psychological trauma (stress, extreme conditions, hurricanes, earthquakes, accidents, burnout syndrome, etc.), as well as for children with various developmental and behavioral disorders (cerebral palsy, ASD, ADHD, etc.). The use of dogs in psychotherapy is due to their species characteristics, willingness to cooperate with humans and economic feasibility. Canis therapy has a positive effect through direct contact and communication with the animal, playing together and caring for it. This complex helps eliminate stress, get rid of tension, feelings of fear or anxiety. Exercises with a dog help develop such personal qualities as attentiveness, sensitivity, confidence, reaction speed, overcome fears, reduce aggressiveness, excitability and isolation; satisfy the psycho-emotional need for contact and attachment to pets, train volitional processes and communication skills not only with animals, but also with people. Canistherapy turns out to be one of the effective methods for children and the elderly, who are often the most vulnerable categories in terms of socialization and emotional well-being. Canistherapy is of particular importance for children with developmental disabilities; a dog gives them the opportunity not only to find a friend, but also to cope with their own characteristics. Dogs help overcome loneliness, relieve psycho-emotional stress, bring positive emotions, and much, much more. Communication with a dog plays a special role in the socio-psychological well-being of children, it provides the necessary emotional “feeding” and in itself is good psychotherapy. It is especially necessary for children who often suffer from loneliness in their own families, as well as children from disadvantaged families. Dogs are indispensable when working with children with autism spectrum disorders. They have a very positive influence on the behavior of such children. Even the mere presence or passive participation in therapy of a friendly dog shows a marked improvement in the behavior of children and reduces the symptoms of autism. With the help of canistherapy, many patients improve coordination of movements, memory, children become more sociable and independent. I would especially note the usefulness of canistherapy for fellow psychologists, social workers, teachers and representatives of other social and communicative professions. Most people in helping professions work in an emotionally tense atmosphere, which is accompanied by a significant expenditure of mental energy and leads to the accumulation of mental and physical fatigue and emotional exhaustion. As a result, anxiety, anxiety, irritability, anger arise, self-esteem decreases, sleep is disturbed, and depressive states are common; also, mental problems are often accompanied by somatic disorders - this is how burnout syndrome manifests itself. The inclusion of a specially trained dog or several dogs in therapy contributes to a powerful positive emotional charge that stimulates rehabilitation. Directed play with a dog stimulates the development of cognitive-cognitive processes and the psychomotor sphere. In this case, the pendulum effect is triggered - a cyclic alternation of emotional states of an asthenic and static nature, which helps to improve the psychological state, reduce pain, alleviate depressive disorders, reduce tension, relaxation and further concentration, etc. We can say that canis therapy is a nonspecific method of effectively restoring the protective properties of the human body. At the same time, it should be noted that canis therapy.
