In the last article we discussed why it is important for adult children to separate from their parents. But this moment is a crisis not only for the child, but also for the parents. Today we’ll talk about empty nest syndrome and ways to make this period easier for yourself. Empty nest syndrome is a condition that many parents experience when their children grow up, move out of the house and start their own lives. It is a time of change, challenge and re-imagining of one's own life. However, there are several ways you can overcome this period and make it a positive and productive time for yourself. Remember that this is normal: Empty nest syndrome is a natural part of life for both you and your children. This is a time of change and opportunity for everyone. Therefore, you should not fall into despair or a sense of loss. Instead, try to see this period as a chance for self-development and new opportunities. Set new goals: When children leave home, you have free time that was previously occupied by caring for them. Use this time to focus on yourself and your own goals. Try new hobbies, play sports, devote time to study or career. Set new goals and strive to achieve them. Keep in touch with your children: Even though they have left their native walls, this does not mean that you should completely lose touch with them. Try to maintain a close relationship with your children, keep up to date with their lives, communicate with them and help them if they need it. This will help you feel closer to your children and get through the empty nest period with less stress. Connect with other parents: Don't be alone with your feelings. Talking to other parents who are also experiencing empty nest syndrome can help you feel supported and understood. Exchange experiences, share your feelings and thoughts - this will help you get through this period easier. Focus on self-development: Moving an adult child and his transition into adulthood is an excellent time for self-development and self-knowledge of parents. Use it to develop as a person, expand your interests, learn new things about yourself and the world. Set new goals for yourself, participate in projects that inspire you, and don’t be afraid of change - it can bring you many new opportunities and experiences .Empty nest syndrome is a period of change and new opportunities. It's normal to experience mixed feelings, but it's important to find ways to overcome it and make it positive and productive. Be glad that your baby has become independent and has taken responsibility for his life into his own hands. And shift the focus to yourself and your life. This is not the end, but the beginning of a new chapter of his and your life. You can find the rest of my useful articles and notes on the topic of relationships with parents by clicking here.
